The Original 17 NES Games |
What games were released with the NES back in 1985-86? According to an article in Ninteno Power #78, these were the choices we had:
10-Yard Fight
Baseball
Clu Clu Land
Donkey Kong Jr Math
Duck Hunt
Excitebike
Golf
Gyromite
Hogan's Alley
Ice Climber
Kung Fu
Mach Rider
Pinball
Stack Up
Super Mario Bros
Tennis
Wrecking Crew
There are some fun games, and some classics, in that package. But who
could have imagined the possibilities of the system? Could anyone have
foreseen the graphics of Mega Man, Dragon's Lair, or Micro Machines?
How about the game play of Final Fantasy, Super Mario 3, or Blaster Master?
And although the deck has an expansion port in the bottom, did anyone plan
to learn the piano with their Nintendo Entertainment System?
The carts, with the exception of Stack Up and Donkey Kong Jr Math,
aren't too hard to find. But have you tried to find the boxes and
manuals for some of these geezers?!
The final licensed game released for the NES was Wario's Woods.
Many NES-men have written to me, so I can't give credit to just one
for that info.
From various rumors, I believe the last game overall for the NES was
the unlicensed Sunday Funday by Wisdom Tree (the game is actually
a re-working of Color Dreams' Menace Beach). I'm told the last
Famicom game was Adventure Island IV.
